Each year, people around the world create a Vision Board as a way to inspire themselves for the year to come. Often these are done in late December or early January in order to ritualize the coming New Year. We are always excited to create rituals around the changing seasons, and vision boards are one of our favorites!

What is a Vision Board?

Simply put, a vision board is a collection of images that inspire you. These can include things you are working on already, such as a healthy body or thriving relationship. They can also include dreams you have, such as vacationing on a beach, making more money, or finding a partner. Some people like using words in their vision boards, while others stick with only images.

One great thing about vision boards is that there is no wrong way to do them! They don’t require artistic talent beyond cutting and pasting images from magazines, but if you are more artistically inclined, you can bring your talents into your creation in any way you choose. We prefer making ours on either a ¼ or ½ piece of poster board for durability, but the medium is up to you.

Why Make a Vision Board?

The primary reason to create a vision board is to have a visual representation of what you want to create in your life. When placed somewhere that it is seen daily, our minds are constantly reminded of the goal of scheduling that vacation, or what it will feel like when we go on those dates we are looking forward to. Having these images around keeps us focused on our dreams and goals.

Another great bonus of creating a vision board is that they often contain images that call to us for unknown reasons. It is a magical moment when you look at your vision board and notice a picture that you were drawn to, but you didn’t know why come to fruition in your life! In Dr. Jen’s 2019 vision board there was a picture of a small group of musicians – little did she know that was the year she would learn to play the bass and form a band with her family!

The Vision Board Workshop

On January 7th, 2020, we will be hosting a Vision Board Workshop at the Third Eye Family Solutions Office from 6-8 pm. We love making vision boards with our community and have found that group energy inspires the process. Jen & Jaime will talk you through the process, provide the materials, and coach you if you feel stuck or uncertain.

There will also be an opportunity for people to share their boards with other participants, should you choose to do so. Drinks and snacks will be provided, and the cost is $20 per person. There are 15 spaces available. Register Here for the Workshop!

If you can’t make this workshop, but want to make a vision board on your own, simply gather some old magazines, glue sticks, and poster board! We’ll be sharing some instructions about how to go through the vision board process on our Facebook page, so stay tuned!
